Paypal jumps on bandwagon to end Wikileaks

Paypal, the online payments service website owned by eBay,  has decided to jump on the bandwagon of nations, news services and others to hurt the whistle-blower website Wikileaks.

Wikileaks has relied on Paypal as a primary vehicle for fundraising efforts. Paypal posted a response to their action against Wikileaks one that is consistent with their corporate policy--since Wikileaks is in violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy: "which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity.” Supposedly, this action to suspend the service for Wikileaks was not provoked by any Governmental agency.

  • Earlier this week, Amazon kicked Wikileaks out of it's cloud web hosting service. Amazon stated that the website's content potentially put innocent people's lives in jeopardy.
  • Even the domain name provider, EveryDNS.net, terminated it's domain name.
