Microsoft is pushing for greater interoperability between Hadoop and SQL Server. These new connectors show Microsoft's commitment to the Hadoop open-source technology. These new connectors are:

  • Hadoop connector for SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW)
  • The second connector helps move data between Hadoop and SQL Server 2008 R2

Ultimately, these connectors will give Microsoft database developers and owners the power of Hadoop to achieve greater  business insights and greater web strategy from both structured and unstructured data. This connection technology will allow data to be moved to and from a Hadoop environment. Also, it uses SQOOP for efficient data movement.
