Google's Jan 2012 Search Update

Google has released the January 2012 search update that contains a few very interesting parts.

Google algorithm for search

  • Panda In The Pipelines: Google mentioned an improved integration between Panda the Google indexing and ranking systems
  • Fresher Search Results: Some “minor updates” to the November freshness algorithm update
  • Date Detection: improved how Google detects the date of a web page or web document
  • Autocomplete: This update is in two parts: 1. Google is now faster at delivering interpretive search queries 2. spelling corrections are now “more consistent with those used in search”
  • Search using misspelled words: Google improved how it displays and finds results for misspelled words
  • News queries: Makes news results “more responsive to realtime trends” in search
