Google has updated the design and format of how Adwords displays on mobile devices. The goal of the redesign was to make Adwords more effective for smartphone users and web advertisers.

The advertising experience became available to Android users yesterday. The focus of the updated design was to enhance the calls-to-action such as “get directions” and “click to call” are now more prominent and clickable in more places, which should influence user behavior.

A new feature called “hyperlocal marker” reveals how far the advertiser’s business location is from the user's current location.

Google also made the maps experience more Google-centric by loading the advertisement within a frame that allows an easy re-entrance to Google Maps.
