Smartphones have certainly been more of a concern than tablets for businesses, so far.

New data from the Adobe Digital Index shows the possibility of tablets beating smartphones by as soon as 2013. Additionally, a recent eMarketer report forcasts nearly 70 million Americans, a little over 20% of all US consumers, will use a tablet by the end of 2012. eMarketer also goes as far to predict that by 2015 more than half of all Internet users will be accessing the web using tablets.

The rise of tablet devices success has been astounding. Tablets grew in market share nearly ten times faster than that of smartphones in their first two years of introduction.

More profoundly, according to the Adobe Digital Index study, How Tablets Are Catalyzing Brand Website Engagement, one tablet generates as many website visits as four smartphones.

This could be a great thing for US business and eCommerce websites, since tablet user behavior shows a high-performance for shopping and conversion with tablets. Specifically, 12% of tablet owners used a tablet to shop online daily.
