US Internet advertising revenue have increased 18% year-on year in Q3 of 2012, according to new research released today by IAB US.

Web advertising revenues in the US jumped to $9.26 billion, which makes Q3 of 2012 the  largest in history, based on a report by IAB Internet Advertising Bureau. In Q3 of 2011, the revenue number hit $7.8 billion.

Randall Rothenberg, President and CEO, of IAB stated that “[t]hese historic investments in interactive point to the strong results that marketers are receiving from digital marketing.”

He continued to commend digital marketing in the report:

It is a highly effective medium for interacting and engaging consumers, who are no longer passive, but are active participants in contemporary media online, through social media, and on-the-go with mobile.

What makes the growth remarkable, besides the climb to a remarkable figure of $9.26 billion, was the fact that larger economic forces placed large challenges this year on business development--yet advertising revenues grew despite this fact.
