New Facebook Open Graph tools help enliven story possibilities within apps

Facebook's Open Graph is going through another upgrade to help web developers tell better stories within their applications. They are pushing out new Open Graph tools to make it easier for web developers to launch Open Graph stories and manage timeline collections.

The update includes:

  • Publish common stories without any configuration. For example, “video.watches” and “music.listens” don't require configuration within Open Graph tools. The SDK will provide sample code for each action type.
  • Develop custom stories with a minimal number of steps. Simpified tools will help web developers create custom action and object types. This includes a preview tool for any story that would be published to a news feed.
  • Build custom collections to highlight your app’s content on the timeline. For example, a web developer can place app content to dedicated collections on a timeline and About page.
  • Have oversight of the review status of your app’s stories and custom collections
