Google has expanding their product listing ads (PLAs) for mobile devices. Product listing ads were first introduced to mobile devices in March, and now the Adwords team is launching an updated display for the ad unit on search results page. The display update includes bigger product images and expanded product titles for the product ads. Mobile users will be able to swipe left and right to see more product listings within the ad unit. The re-designed look of the mobile product list advertising unit will propel shoppers to browse and discover products using their mobile devices--making the process easy and comfortable.

These updates, according to tests, will drive more traffic to eCommerce websites.  Additionally, the ad unit is very attractive, and many mobile users may adopt and interact with the ad unit as they would non-sponsored content. The unit has a "friendliness factor" that we believe will make the ad content highly engaging within the search results page. These updates to the Adwords product come at a time when there is an increased interest in direct response advertising. Digital advertising is expected to enjoy double-digit spending growth in the next five years.
