Researcher and Writer (Marketing Focus) - Remote

Ironpaper is hiring a researcher and writer to focus on research, writing, analysis, surveys, basic data analysis, and content projects for internal company projects. 

The candidate must have experience in the field of B2B marketing.

As a B2B marketing agency, Ironpaper is charged with building campaigns, creating content, and improving B2B marketing programs to drive more sales leads. To do this, we need to understand buyer needs, market forces, and industry challenges.

This role will focus on the following:

  • Conducting industry research
  • Analyzing marketing data to pull insights and takeaways 
  • Compiling data into reports and presenting reports to internal team members
  • Improving our subject matter expertise through interviews with internal marketing and sales teams
  • Conducting surveys of B2B leaders on marketing and sales trends

This position would focus on marketing and sales trends and techniques, so experience in that field is necessary. Specifically, we will focus on marketing, sales, and customer development trends for B2B companies. Our target audiences include B2B companies (small to large) in various sectors such as cloud/data, cyber security, IT, Internet of Things, software/SaaS, energy, B2B healthcare, and supply chains.

Core responsibilities

  • Analyzing CRM and survey data to pull out insights; report to the team on takeaways and suggest next steps
  • Research industry trends news to create research reports on the industry (market forces, messaging, regulations, etc.)
  • Writing summaries and briefs--possibly full articles (depending on writing and storytelling skills) 
  • Writing or assisting in writing research reports that provide actionable takeaways based on data.
  • Messaging strategies to document simple, descriptive language that prioritizes substance over a stylistic approach to communications. Messaging will focus on describing the business needs of companies that are facing challenges, market forces, or change. 
  • Documenting and mapping concepts for content. Creating content outlines that prioritize key topics impacting our industry.
  • Other projects in content, research, presentations, and strategy related to B2B marketing.


Qualifications include:

  • Excellent research capabilities, including conducting interviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and surveys
  • Great communication and time management skills
  • 5+ years of professional experience working as an analyst or related role
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience with analytics
  • Willingness to learn and take feedback
  • Must be located remote within the US only and be able to work 9 am - 6 pm EST
  • Must be comfortable working in a remote environment 
  • Ideally, the candidate has experience in HubSpot and other analytics tools

Our ideal candidate would be self-driven, passionate about learning, and friendly.

The candidate should have strong research and writing skills, and be experienced working in the B2B vertical. Energy subject matter expertise is preferred.

We are open to candidates that may need to gain new skills for this role and will take 5-6 HubSpot and Google certifications within the first year to help with skill development. We also expect that this candidate will be open to learning and becoming a champion for Ironpaper's methodologies for marketing, sales, content, and management. Additionally, this position will require someone that will continuously learn and gain new and diverse skills over time.
