You built a HubSpot workflow, tested it, and it worked flawlessly. But when a returning prospect or contact meets the criteria a second time, nothing happens. Here's why your workflow stalled and how to resolve it.
By default, HubSpot workflows enroll a record only the first time it meets the enrollment triggers. This safety feature prevents contacts from receiving redundant emails or trigger loops, but it can halt recurring business processes.
Open your workflow in HubSpot.
Click on the Settings tab at the top.
In the left sidebar, click Re-enrollment.
Check the box to allow re-enrollment and select the specific trigger criteria that should allow a record to re-enter the workflow.
Save your changes.
Be deliberate about re-enrollment conditions:
Form submissions: Enable re-enrollment if contacts need automated confirmation or content delivery every time they submit a form.
Deal stages: Re-enroll records when key pipeline updates occur.
One-time nurtures: Keep re-enrollment disabled for lifecycle welcome or onboarding sequences.
