Tenement Museum gets new home and homepage

November 19th, 2011

The doors to the new home base for the Tenement Museum opened on Friday November 11th. The new Visitor and Education Center at the corner of Orchard and Delancey. The new space gives the museum 10,000 square feet of additional space, which includes classrooms, a screening room and their own gallery space. Along with the new building, Ironpaper helped to build a new homepage for the museum, a new ticket and tours section and a new press / media area as part of the event.

Commercial factoring website design

Ironpaper just launched the first online presence for Midland American Capital, a commercial factoring company that specializes in invoice financing for industries ranging from Green Energy Companies to Manufacturers.

Our role with Midland American has grown from initial web strategy and early business development needs to full web production and post-launch web marketing. Commercial factoring websites need a strong and targeted content that relates to the industries served. We are excited to be working with Midland American and look forward to continued success.

New website launch: Introducing the New York Genealogical & Biographical Society

Ironpaper is happy to announce the launch of the next generation website for New York Genealogical & Biographical Society: newyorkfamilyhistory.org.

Some background on the NYG&B:
The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society was founded in 1869. As a non-profit institution, their purpose is to collect and make available information on genealogy, biography and history, particularly as it relates to the people of New York. To carry out their purpose, they publish periodicals and books, conduct educational programs and provide other services.

One of the goals of the new website was to strengthen relationships with their existing genealogy users, attract the next generation genealogist and begin to attract general public that are looking for a richer experience with genealogy and family history. These goals will help helped by better promoting the eLibrary, Member services, access to Events and Community of NYG&B and it’s online web portal.

Ironpaper is seeking to hire a freelance or part-time graphic designer with experience in interactive or website design. Ultimately, the ideal candidate would have experience in all stages of design for web projects from planning through concepting and graphic production processes. The candidate should be comfortable interpreting information architecture models and business cases to produce a responsive visual system.

There is no minimum university degree requirements or years on the job requirements for this position. The portfolio and specific web-project, work experience will be crucial elements in selecting the right candidate.

Must be located in or around the NYC area and able to meet in-person in order to be considered for this position.

Ironpaper designs the new Collegiate Chorale website

Ironpaper just launched the “next generation” website for the Collegiate Chorale–complete with a branding overhaul, new back-end administrative system and content strategy.

The Collegiate Chorale is a fascinating, performing-arts organization that can be found quite frequently at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. The Chorale is comprised of 150-175 loyal members who join by audition and often remain involved for the rest of their lives.  It is truly a transformative organization for both the singers and awe-inspiring for their audience. Ironpaper was proud to have helped be part of this great event for the organization.

Ironpaper is looking to hire a web developer to work from our office in Midtown Manhattan, NYC. The candidate should be comfortable working on a team and independently, be self-directed, set project goals, and love building interactive technology.

We are looking for an individual that is comfortable with PHP, MYSQL, HTML/CSS, Javascript, XML. Other language skill-sets would be a plus. We expect the candidate to have familiarity with open-source projects/frameworks such as Drupal, WordPress and JQuery. The candidate must have a good understanding of contemporary web development practices for templating, Content Management Systems, eCommerce and be capable of troubleshooting misc. problems.

  • Ability to implement HTML/CSS that perfectly matches PSD designs
  • Understands standard systems development lifecycle processes and applies our methodology and procedures effectively on client engagements.
  • Applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.
  • Understands project and development plans and is able to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines
  • Understands cross-browser issues for web development
  • Ability to assist with various AJAX/JQuery tasks
  • Ability to easily learn and work with someone else’s code
  • API integration for Paypal, Authorize.net, Facebook and others
  • Establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans.
  • Possesses, at-least, basic knowledge of classes, components, objects, and interfaces.
  • Possesses working knowledge of at least one Javascript Framework such as jQuery, Mootools or Prototype.

Optional skills (would be great if):
.NET/ASP development understanding, comfortable building web applications in PHP from ground-up, social media integration, cakePHP, Ruby.

Ironpaper’s office is conveniently located in Midtown NYC, very close to Herald Sq., Madison Sq. Gardens and Macy’s–close to Time Sq., numerous subway lines and the PATH train.
